SEEKING HARMONY

A dynamic and changeable choral composition in 9 movements, performed at Nikolaj Kunsthal, Copenhagen 2021

The artist duo FOO/SKOU created an interactive sound installation Disharmony of Spheres in Nikolaj Kunsthal’s Upper Gallery, and they invited Philip | Schneider to interpret their work.

SEEKING HARMONY is a performative study of selected systems and compositional elements that underlies Disharmony of Spheres. Each singer represents a planet in our solar system. This improvisational experiment is guided by a musical sign language developed for the occasion. Through 9 movements, the voices move like the planets in their respective orbits, but around a common focal point. Does this lead to harmony or disharmony?
